During the Capybara ritual, the Matis Indians create an atmosphere that is not only visually stimulating but auditory as well.  They imitate the sounds of the capybara.  In addition, they imitate the actions of this native Amazonian rodent by running and hopping as a capybara would do.  Interestingly, only men and boys participate in this ceremony with women and girls generally being excluded.
