Tumi Matis with a zogue-zogue monkey (Callicebus sp.) hunted with a blowgun and poison darts.  The primary prey taken with blowguns by the Matis Indians are various species of monkeys.  However, the Matis also hunt birds and other animals with blowguns.  Although they eat their monkey prey, they also harvest their teeth which are used to make jewelry such as bracelets and necklaces.  These monkey tooth ornaments are thought to generate energy via the animal spirits associated with these artifacts.
